RCom (Reliance Communications) have updated their 3G / 2G plans. They have made it more affordable by dropping the price by over 50%. 1GB 3G plan will now cost just Rs.123. Existing RCom subscribers will also get the benefit – their current plan will be auto upgraded. The new tariff plan will come into effect from tomorrow. For 1GB data on 3G network, consumers will now have to pay Rs. 123, for 2GB Rs. 246 and 4GB for Rs. 492. The 2G plan will be even cheaper.
The plan is attractive and to lure new consumers (who want to change their number from other networks to Reliance) they will get free 3G (1GB limit) valid for 2 month. We have seen this before and will see it again; other network service providers will follow the same and they will soon reduce the cost.
RCom will also partner with other smartphone vendors. They are already providing bundled plans with iPhone and will soon follow the same with Micromax, HTC and Samsung.
